| Purpose: To help Scouts to explore difficult issues and develop a response to these issues. Development Stage: • Identifying the problems • Developing Awareness • Measuring change Instructions: • The leader thinks of situations which young people may find themselves in which might be causing them to worry. • The leaders or Scouts writes up these situations in the form of a letter to a problem page in a magazine. • In groups of two or three, the Scouts are given a letter. The Scouts should then talk about the response that they would give the person who is writing the letter. • As a group, the situations and responses to the different problems are shared and discussed. Equipment Needed: Letters prepared in advance - paper and pens There are examples of situations where this activity could be used in the project example 'Kids having Kids' (Section 6) |
